Is there a way to get my Canon mp830 printer to think Red cartridge is a Magenta cartridge so it will work? - canon cartridge

Inadvertently, I bought a red instead of magenta ink cartridges for my Canon MP830. When I put the cartridge Rouge, where the magenta cartridge goes, I get an error message:

The following ink tank can not be detected

I just need to print in black. The printer does not work with an empty tank magenta. Does anybody know a way to avoid this, so I can print? I would be grateful for any suggestions ...
